Shero On The Go (Food Truck)

I do not own rights to the image.  I am just putting it here so you can recognize their truck should you want to try it.

It's that time of the week again!  Food Truck Friday!  This week it was hotdogs.......... fair warning, this review might not sound that great, but that is not a reflection of the food truck itself.  I am very picky about what constitutes a good hotdog.  There are three maybe four places that I willingly order a hotdog from, Sam's Club, Hundleys, Ridgeway Drive-In (does not count as one of the four as they are non existent anymore), Dari-O, and the Red Caboose.  I detest the hotdogs that are popular in this area like the ones from Pulliams I think are nasty, but they are in the top three hotdog places locally.  I honestly do not see how.   So yes, I am picky about my hotdogs.  So take what I say about the hotdogs with a grain of salt on this one.

So anyhow let's get on with it.  They have a broad listing of different toppings/flavors you can get that differ from the traditional regional toppings.  They offer different types of fries as well.  Ranging from chili cheese, loaded, and philly cheese steak fries.  I opted for the Sweet and Sassy which was a sausage topped with a mango habanero sauce and one topping of my choice.  I went with cheese.  I went with cheese because I have had a sandwich from another establishment that pairs sweet habanero sauce with cheese.  I should have asked what kind of cheese though.  It appeared to be a melted slice.  You can make your own judgements.  The quality of the sausage was really good.  The mango habanero sauce was perfect with just the right amount of kick to it.  Not too hot, but not too bland.  I am regretting my choice of cheese.  If I could have a redo, I'd order it without cheese.

I opted for the loaded fries.  I will admit that the presentation left a lot to be desired, HOWEVER, the taste and ratio of toppings to fries was phenomenal.   The chili is what totally made it.  The taste of the chili kind of made me wish I had went with the traditional hotdog with toppings. The fries did not get soggy, and there was enough toppings to account for the fries underneath the initial first layer.  The portions were perfect.

There is one thing that kind of rubbed me the wrong way and it has nothing to do with the food.  There was a tip jar.  I have no problem with the existence of a tip jar, so don't get me wrong.  The signage attached to the tip jar rubbed me the wrong way.  "What Would Jesus Tip?"  I found it to be a bit on the blasphemous side.  I mean He turned the tables over in the temple so yeah......... That's just my personal opinion, neither here nor there.  I felt that sign was pretty tacky. Again, that is just my personal opinion.

Give them a try.
