Origin Story of Fatty's Food Journal

Hey ya'll.  I'm back for one additional post.  This is more of some background info on this blog and how and why it came to exist.

For starters, let me just say that in the big scheme of things I am a nobody in the blogging world.  I'm a teeny tiny fish in a ginormous pond.  Heck, more like an amoeba.

There are a few different things I wanted to do with my life.  I wanted to be a teacher, a singer, and a writer.  Officially, I am none of these things.  I have the utmost respect for teachers.  I originally went to college to become an elementary teacher.  As you can tell, that did not pan out. I volunteer occasionally and I do enjoy that.   I love to sing.  I was in chorus, glee club, and girls' chorus from 6th to 12th grade.  Then vocal ensemble in college.  I was also a female vocalist in a praise band for two semesters of college.  These days I get my kicks singing karaoke.   I also love to write.  I started writing in middle school; it was not anything profound.  By the time I got to high school I was told by one of my English teachers that I had a very unique style of writing (back then - I've since lost it).  Our high school had a school paper that was produced by the journalism class.  The journalism class was traditionally only juniors and seniors.  I was one of only two sophomores that made it into the class.  I took all the English classes and creative writing classes offered.  Our creative writing class started a literary magazine.   I took three writing classes in college.  I never went anywhere with it.  I've attempted a few short stories.  I've never been able to finish one.

This is not my first blog.  If you only knew how many of these things I have or have had.  This is the first one I have posted to on a "schedule" of sorts.   I have another one that I do very random reviews on of just random stuff. It is currently not on a schedule.

There are two people behind my keeping up with this blog.  I started a job in 2019 as a civilian employee.  I only use that term because in my work civilian employees are the minority.  In the position I held at the time, we worked 10 hour days with no meal break.  I think we got like 20 minutes or something.  However, we were allowed to eat at our desks.  A lot of times (and back before I had a car payment lol) I would order food using DoorDash.  This was mostly when I was working night shift.  Anyway, one of my co-workers at the time who I will refer to as Bob.  Bob is not his name, but his name is so unusual that I don't want to put it here.  That and if someone from my work saw this I'd rather not list his name without his permission.  Anyway, "Bob" and I worked on the same team for both night and day shifts.  We would talk while we worked.  A lot of this discussion involved food.  So much so that he kept telling me I needed to start a food review blog.  He was dead serious too.  By that point I had ordered so much food that people would ask my opinion on food delivery options lol.  I kid you not  It was kind of funny actually.  I'm no longer in that position, and I still get asked from time to time.    So that is the first inspiration for this blog.

The second inspiration is both my friend and a lady that I view as a second mother/bonus mom.  She is known affectionately to many as "Mama Wanda".  She is a second mom/bonus mom  to many people  She is an awesome lady.  We were talking one day via text and she was encouraging me to write.  I showed her one of my old blogs.  She seemed impressed.  She egged me on to write and write and write and write and write.   This was over a year ago.  I have a few more failed short stories since then. Failed short stories = I have an idea, but I am unable to flesh it out.  But as you can tell it took me over a year to finally bite the bullet so to speak and start this blog.  I have not had an opportunity to talk to her since I started this, so I really do not know her opinion on it as of yet.  I would like to make her proud as she is one of the very few people in my life that has told me she believed in me and has encouraged me to go through with this.  If that sounds silly, I apologize.

She also told me several times to "pretend as if....." Basically, pretend as if you know what you are doing.  Pretend as if you are confident.  Pretend you are _____________ Fill in the blank with whatever you want that fits.  But just pretend as if.  So that is what I am doing.  I am pretending as if I know what I am doing.  Honestly, I have no freaking clue.  I'm pretending as if I know what I am doing.

Basically, I work full-time and I like eating food that I don't have to cook.  Though I don't do as much of that these days compared to what I used to do. Let me put it this way, I used to DoorDash maybe four times a week.  Over the past year or so I've reduced that to maybe two or three times a month if that. Some months it is zero.   I'm honestly worried about running out of content.  For now the food trucks that come to work serve as content as well as our monthly work lunch meetings.  This is just a hobby for now.  It allows me to scratch that writing itch and pretend to be someone.  So if you like what you see, click follow.

Oh the name Fatty's Food Journal came out of nowhere really.  The alliteration flows,  it's a blog about food, and a blog is a type of journal.
