Long Life Meal Prep

 Good afternoon my foodie friends,

It has been awhile.  As I stated before previously, I will only be posting here from time to time.

So due to some on going never ever ending health issues...............  I have to try to eat more low carb.  I'm not talking anything extreme as Keto.  My workplace recently "partnered"  (I used the term loosely) with this meal prep service.  I work full time, and I have a school age child.  I am really tired when I get home and prepping my lunch up until this point has been some rotisserie chicken bites from Sam's Club and some bagged salads.  Once in awhile I might spice it up with a single serving of Cilantro Lime Minute Rice.   That routine gets old quick.  It does get difficult if I am not able to make it to Sam's Club to buy my weekly lunches as well.  So I thought I'd give this thing at work a try.

Price point is pretty good if you consider you are getting a better quality of food than you would if you got fast food.  For example, we were on the go a few days ago and I had to stop at a fast food place.  I have not eaten at that fast food place in probably almost a year.  A combo cost around 10 dollars for a burger, fry, and a drink.  The price point on this meal prep thing is way lower and it is a better quality and healthier food.  Most of the meals average between 10 and 11 dollars.  Then some of the others average around 15.  Having it delivered to work knocks off 15 percent and then a coupon code knocks off another 10 percent.   So I am happy with the price point.

The quality is decent considering.  The quality is in between a frozen dinner from the freezer aisle and a home cooked meal.  So i'd say it's fairly decent.  Portion size is good as well.  They offer a variety of options for each item such as low carb, muscle gain, and weight loss.  I tend to stick with the low carb versions.  The meal I had today for lunch for example was the cheeseburger bowl.  It had lean ground beef, a little shredded cheese, pickles, and green beans.  It was only 10 grams of carbs and 36 grams of protein.  Now this service is different than other services like HelloFresh or EveryPlate, etc.  You do not do any cooking.  You heat and eat.

The menu changes weekly.  Granted I saw a couple of dishes offered for a 2 weeks in a row, but there were also some new ones.  I have tried several different ones and I have my favorites and I can't wait for them to roll around again.  Although this is my fifth week of ordering and I have not seen my favorites come up again yet.  So there is a variety.  They have breakfast items, and protein bites, and nut butters as well.

To be honest I only have two to three complaints:

The use by dates are sometimes really short.  I have to sometimes order my food by use by dates as to the order in which I eat it.

The other complaint, is that the microwave instructions are very generic and are the same for every meal.  If you have spent any time what to ever in the kitchen even if you just use a microwave, you know that, that is a bit risky when it comes to items such as chicken and fish that can dry out pretty quickly.  A couple of the chicken dishes did dry out in the microwave while trying to get the vegetables to the same temperature. Not all of them did though.

My third complaint is that the labels tell me the amount of protein, fat, carbs, and calories.  I would really like to know the sodium and sugar contents.  That would be nice.  I did try to find these on the website and did not have much luck.

Overall, I really like this so far.  If you have an opportunity to use this service, I highly recommend trying it.
